Frozen light, polar wind, and the pull of things beyond the edge of the map. The White Ships is Lovecraftian rock built from heavy space rock and stoner doom, with each track a cosmic horror transmission from the deep places. Eight tracks drawn from H.P. Lovecraft: "Polaris" (1918), "The White Ship" (1919), "The Nameless City" (1921), "The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath" (1927), "The Shadow Out of Time" (1934), "At the Mountains of Madness" (1936), and the wider Cthulhu Mythos. Two original transmissions ride alongside.

  1. Polaris

    Draws on H.P. Lovecraft's "Polaris" (1918). The dream of a lost polar civilisation and the sentinel who failed his watch. The opening transmission from the frozen north.

  2. The Wind Is Awake (Extended)

    Draws on Lovecraft's Flying Polyps, from "The Shadow Out of Time" (1934). Invisible beings older than any city, held below the world by the geometry of the towers built to trap them.

  3. Mountains Of Madness

    Draws on H.P. Lovecraft's "At the Mountains of Madness" (1936). The Antarctic expedition that found the ruins of the Old Ones and everything that came before human history.

  4. Spheres Align

    An original transmission. The moment when planetary bodies fall into an arrangement they were never meant to hold.

  5. Shub-Niggurath

    Draws on the Cthulhu Mythos. The Black Goat of the Woods with a Thousand Young. Fertility beyond the human, worship in places that shouldn't be worshipped.

  6. Void-Drifter

    An original transmission. A vessel adrift between stars, tuned to signals it cannot source, carrying whatever is inside it toward whatever waits.

  7. The White Ships

    The title track. Draws on H.P. Lovecraft's "The White Ship" (1919). The lighthouse-keeper who sailed away on the ship that came for him, and the port he could not return from. Plural in TY's telling. More than one has been seen.

  8. Serpent Ritual

    Draws on H.P. Lovecraft's "The Nameless City" (1921). The lost city beneath the Arabian desert, older than mankind, whose reptilian inhabitants still crawl through its lower passages.

  9. Silent Wings

    Draws on the Nightgaunts, from H.P. Lovecraft's "The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath" (1927). Faceless things that lift dreamers off the mountain paths and carry them into the vaults of Zin without a sound.

  10. The Wind Is Awake Pt 2 (Instrumental)

    The Flying Polyps return. Track 2 stripped of voice, only the wind and the towers remain.
